Webinar "Urban Heat"
Das Webinar “Urban Heat” im Rahmen der Reihe „Planetary Boundaries - How Israel and Germany take on climate change" befasste sich am 03. September 2025 mit dem Thema „Hitze“.
In der Veranstaltung stellte Frau Dr. Roni Bar von der israelischen Planungsbehörde den Hitzeplan Israels vor. Dr. Ulrich Matthes vom Kompetenzzentrum Klimawandelfolgen gab einen Überblick über Daten, Strategien und Maßnahmen zum Thema Hitze in Rheinland-Pfalz. Zudem gaben Best-Practice-Beispiele aus israelischen und rheinland-pfälzischen Städten und Gemeinden Impulse für die Diskussion. Das Seminar bot die einmalige Möglichkeit Einblick in die innovativen Ansätze Israels zu erhalten und damit neue Blickwinkel einzunehmen sowie Anstöße für die Herausforderungen hier zu erhalten. Die Veranstaltung ermöglichte zudem den Austausch über die jeweiligen Debatten, Strategien, Maßnahmen und Aktivitäten.

Das Online-Format bot eine niedrigschwellige Möglichkeit der Teilnahme aus beiden Ländern. Eine Simultanübersetzung ermöglichte einen uneingeschränkten Austausch.
Das Webinar „Urban Heat“ knüpfte an die diesjährige Webinarreihe „Die coole Stadt“ an, die mit drei Veranstaltungen von Mai bis August 2025 kommunalen Vertreterinnen und Vertretern zu konkreten Hitze-Themen Orientierung gab. Die Veranstaltung „Urban Heat“ bot als viertes Seminar im September dann internationale Perspektiven und neue Blickwinkel.
Das Webinar richtete sich in erster Linie an Vertreterinnen und Vertreter von Kommunen und wird wie die drei Veranstaltungen der Reihe „Die coole Stadt“ vom Gemeinde- und Städtebund, Städtetag und Landkreistag RLP unterstützt.

On September 03, 2025 experts from Israel and Germany spoke about the topic of urban heat. The event took place as part of the webinar series “Planetary Boundaries – How Israel and Germany take on Climate Change" and was primarily aimed at representatives of municipalities. The LZU had started the series in 2022 in cooperation with the Consulate General of the State of Israel in Munich.
The webinar “Urban Heat” presented Israel's heat plan. Dr. Roni Bar from the Israeli planning authority and author of the plan gave a presentation. Dr. Ulrich Matthes from the Competence Centre for Climate Change Impacts provided an overview of data, strategies and measures relating to heat in Rhineland-Palatinate. In addition, best-practice examples from Israeli and Rhineland-Palatinate cities and municipalities gave impulses for the discussion. The seminar offered the unique opportunity to gain mutual insight into the strategies and measures of both countries and thus to gain new perspectives and impulses for the challenges of climate change.

The online format and simultaneous translation offered the possibility of participation from both countries and enabled an exchange.
The planned “Urban Heat” webinar followed on from the LZU's “The Cool City” webinar series, which aimed to provide municipal representatives with guidance on specific heat-related topics with three events from May to August. The fourth event, “Urban Heat”, offered an international perspective and exchange.
